Fresh Survival

Living a couple adult life is difficult in today’s world especially when it comes to money, food, and healthiness. Learning the best option to buy food in a financially worthy way is not the easiest and it takes trial and error.

There are a few ways to afford healthy food affordable; a few ways consist of bulk buying, subscription boxes, and coupons. Bulk buying is when you purchase large quantities of products, in this case, food. One of the best places to bulk buy in America and Canada is Costco; they sell all different types in bulk and some of the best to buy at Costco would be their prepared meals or bulked frozen foods.

Another way would be to order subscription boxes that are for meal prepping. The one that we use is HelloFresh; there are many different ones, we just picked this one because we were referred by a friend to it. How it works: there are options to pick a number of recipes (3-5) to a number of people eating the meals (2-4), then you get to choose your recipes. For us, we choose 5 meals for 2 people. Once the box arrives at our apartment, 5 paper bags with ingredients are prepared for each of the selected recipes. With 5 recipes in our fridge and freezer, we get to choose any of the 5 recipes we picked to cook on any day of the week and if we didn’t want the recipe, we can always take the ingredients and cook what we want to eat.

Food that can be heated up within minutes is also very good for a busy life because then you can throw it in the microwave or the oven for a few minutes for the food to be edible. Some examples are minute rice or frozen meals. Be quick, but be healthy!
